This LP12 is so early that it even has the routed slot in the top of the plinth, towards the back, for the original lid support (before they went to a sprung hinge) It also does without the Nirvana Kit and Electronic Valhalla Board which were early 80s additions
Quite surprisingly the owner is still using a Rega R100 cartridge .. which I suspect will has been in it from new. Replacement styli for these have been unavailable for at least 20 years.
I quite enjoy working on these early Sondeks as they are fairly straight forward to set up and very rewarding as the improvement sonically, from a simple strip down and rebuild, is quite dramatic. Years of every screw, nut and bolt slackening off, can really take it's toll.
Just a basic service here will cost around £50 plus any parts.
